Interview Tips: Thank You Notes

After the interview, don’t forget to send a thank you note! Hopefully you asked about how soon decisions will be made, which will allow you to determine if an email or handwritten note should be sent.  If the decision process is particularly quick, or your handwriting is very difficult to read, an email thank you is appropriate.  Make sure to personalize the note with some part of the discussion. You can also emphasize what impressed you the most about the firm/agency/organization.  Always spell check and verify the spelling of the person’s name, and make sure to send everyone you met with a note.
